A closer look at the Green Bay Packers 2011 schedule

The Green Bay Packers will play 9 of their 16 games this coming season either in prime time or as the featured Sunday late games.

The Packers will play prime time games four times, starting with the season opener against New Orleans on Sept. 8th at Lambeau Field. They’ll also play Sunday night games at Atlanta on Oct. 9th and at home against the Bears on Christmas night. Green Bay Packers also gets one Monday night appearance, November 14th against the Vikings at Lambeau Field. The Packers will kickoff at 3:15pm on five occasions.

There’s also a holiday flavor to the schedule. For the third time in Mike McCarthy’s tenure, the Packers will play on Thanksgiving day at Detroit. They’ll host the Bears on Christmas night and host Detroit on New Years Day.

Green Bay Packers, after an early bye last season, are back to the middle of the schedule with a week 8 bye.

Green Bay Packers will have another 3-game stretch covering just 11-days. It starts Monday, Nov. 14th against the Vikings, followed by another home game against Tampa Bay on Sunday, Nov. 20th before wrapping up the 3-game stretch with the Thanksgiving Day game at Detroit. [Reference]
